I Drive by Derek GregoryI Drive........
Lost feelings escape permanent thoughts
I drive
Forgetting where I am or where I am going
I drive
A Brilliant white crane contrasts with the murky lake water
surrounding the Christmas manger
The faded manger stands on the small island
as it has for last 20 winters
exposed and free
I drive
The house I first remember is a flaky white with bright green trim
same as when I was four
My bleached green sandbox gone
replaced by a sagging garage
I drive
My other house
small and aged
I drive
brown and red leaves cover the ground
flooding the bright yellow house
I sit in the parking lot wondering if
I am home ,,,,,,,,,, maybe
