King of Sorrow

by Teri T Lahmon

I want to wrap my life around your heart
Take your face into my hands and kiss you til neither of us can breathe
Run screaming from the room when you appear...
I want to stay with you forever
But you won't let me touch you.

You caress all my secret spots
Trail kisses along my inner desires
Love me without loving me
Need me without wanting me...
Stand on the shore dipping one frightened hand into the water
Refusing to dive in.

I am laid bare to you
and you freely consume my love
Glut yourself on my energy
But look hurt and confused when I say "I am starving."

Author's Note: This is not what I would usually call a "poem" it is actually an unedited free flow of what I was thinking, but I decided to put it here anyway.

This starving of the heart and longing for those beautiful vibrations is pronounced well and in no uncertain language. The piece speaks.
