Hush

by Trisha De Gracia

Hush..... hush.....
Trapped in his mind
he's watching the world go by
and he's blinded
by fears he swears he doesn't have

You are mortal.
Tell me what you are afraid of.

I don't wish to intrude
on your ignorance but I'm amazed
at how your gaze never shifts
and never focuses on anything
you stare at nothing constantly
I don't exist in your world.
constantly absorbed in other dimensions
I'm shut out of it all
I'm banging on the door.

You paint the sky gray
when it's blue
and blame the world
for it's lack of colour.
The dawn is peeking over
the ridges of mountain
casting your face in shades of red.

You won't let me save you
You won't save yourself but
You won't give in either.

It's wearing on your bones
like fine sandpaper
or the beat of the waves on the shore.
Will you let it control you?
You won't let it get to you
will you?
You can't keep running
with a self-inflicted gunshot wound
plaguing your big toe.

What are you afraid of?
If it isn't death
or blood
or falling
then maybe it's life...

Is it?
You can tell me.
You have to tell me.
No?
...
Then hush
Hush
Slam the door
shut us out
The world won't let you sleep tonite.

If this is unfinished, I can't wait for the finished version!
