Orbit

by Amanda Conlogue

you, my love, are the brightest star
in my universe, I watch you shimmer
diamond dust in the cold, northern sky
your radiance heats me to the core
I am in orbit around you
within reach of your fingers and lips
in these dusky morning hours on earth
I climb mountains to be close to you
the thin air makes me dizzy
giddy in my amorous devotion, I stay
gazing at the spot where you dwell
in wait for you to come out again
twinkling is spite of
the sun's clockwork banishment
orbit the skies in search of me
to linger above in a delirious kiss.
