get out of my head

by Ginette T Belle

I cannot break him apart
cannot mask my doleful expression
when he speaks as if he is broken
and will not be revised
when he says he wants to flee the city
because the glare is blinding his eyes
and I don't blame him for being flippant
who can sail blue oceans
without a boat to keep you warm
to keep you safe
to keep you sane
who wants to flail wildly
in tenebrous, icy waters
only to drown
or worse yet
to find out you can't swim

Failed rescue missions can be painful - from either side. Nicely crafted. Good read... S.
