Anymore

by Amanda J Cobb

Silver nights are over;
Golden days will soon be gone,
and so will you.
But before you say goodbye,
can you tell me
how to go on?

Because I already miss you
and you're not even out the door.
And you know, boy, that I love you,
but you can't stay here anymore.

I know you made me laugh
and I always made you smile;
it wasn't enough.
There were obstacles between us
long before all
of the miles.

But I already miss you
and I'm not even out the door.
And you know, boy, that I love you,
but I can't stay here anymore.

And I can't help looking back
on what was and might've been;
it's useless:
Our two just somehow
don't add up to one.

And I know that I will miss you
long after you're out the door.
And you know, boy, that I love you,
but I won't say it anymore.

We can't stay here anymore.
