Rachael

by Jayme L Helmick

Grasping at straws
Striving for fame
A dim smile lights a dark face

Encased in poverty
abuse
scandal
And associated with anger
low intellect
low self-esteem
She meanders through halls of
doubt
And wonders why no one loves her

A pale hand reaches out
Clasps weak, ashen fingers
And pulls a "poor soul"
out of a
Shallow Grave

The call has been heard
Just give me a little patience
And I will be important
in the life of
this child.

Author's Note: This is about my job, basically, which is CBS and very rewarding. I wrote this for my kid.

That's really cool Jayme. I really liked this part: A pale hand reaches out Clasps weak, ashen fingers And pulls a "poor soul" out of a Shallow Grave..... it's the diggity!
