Staying in Character by Trisha De GraciaOh my, this is hell
what a hell what a hell
I kissed you
and it felt like
"this is what I was waiting for"
and this is what was right for us
for you
for me
a selfish indulgence
on a sun-shiney day
as the friend walks in
and sees our mis-timing
in broad daylight.
45 minutes, it's show time!
till we're all confined
to a big black room:
One set of new lovers
2 boys so in love
2 girls devastated
and the girl that saw the kiss
that will break 2 hearts
all over again.
The only one missing
is the boy
who fell in love
with "that girl"
and lost her
by letting time pull her away.
We'll all
except him
sit in a room
and watch the screen
as the video of all our lives
so faux and performed
flashes before our very eyes.
The camera never caught
the backstages glances
or the kisses behind the wall
or the secret smiles and smirks
of knowing girls and boys
trying so desparately
despite everything else...
trying to stay in character. 04/29/2003 Author's Note: Hahaha! And I'm here in an almost empty computer lab, and Mrs. Moslin just said "Oh, and they justbroke up.... yeah scarecrow and Dorothy... He didn't even get her a corsage... yeah and he was flirting with other girls to..."
I guess the highschool gossip bullshit doesn't stop at the staff level either. Funny... she has no idea I'm wiritng about that exact situation....
