Strata by Scott Cadence
Ive stayed too long
midway and suspending
in my own paint
where the shades imperceptibly blend into the light
where years have passed,
drawn away from the calendars creased edge
forgotten,
like second thoughts
unwinged
Dusk stained
my eyes are open
to the yawning sky -
I feel the umbra
maneuver the celestial bodies across me
rapture etched,
A thousand ways of heaven
And how far my heart is underneath
(the sky a constant reminder)
that I burn without intensity -
a dulling she piles upon me
So tonight I sail off with the stars
revolve around my own planet
lit by the heat of a brighter sun
vacation In the nook of another galaxy
where god must be spending his Sundays
alone.
