I've been closer
but for some reason
standing there
inches away
seems the closest
I've ever been
the eyes are
the window to
your soul and
I saw there something
that I hoped to see
you didn't shift
your gaze we just
stared into the eyes
of the one
we secretly love
I was close to
taking the forbidden
step to press your
soft, full, lips
against mine
I wanted to so badly
but there were so
many bystanders that
would destroy me
if they saw
me take what
I know is there
in your eyes
in your soul
