Aphrodite

by Cymbre Dolphay

goddess of light and beauty
not the lady of love
she can't comprehend love
it is beyond her
passed from her being
to that of her son

she was so very revered
all those blind Greeks
worshipping a whore
who had no shame
and never tried
to hide her dirty ways

her beauty set her apart
put her on that pedestal
like she was a queen
adultery was her peasant
lust her unending kingdom
but she waged war
on all trusting hearts

why praise her
she is the petal
that loves you not

this is great. never had much sympathy for that particular goddess, she was all beauty and vanity with no compassion to leaven the mix...no real substance.
