mourning for a lost cause

by Rachelle Howe

i had such flare, once.

there was a time where
i could spin words like webs
and moonwalk through the minds
of my readers. i could
paint without a canvas and
inspire a smile with a period or pause.
but now, lacking motivation,
i stare at the screen and mourn the loss
of a gift once so vivid
while the cursor mocks me silently.
