In the eyes of kids
life is simple
cookies are better than gold
parents are the best
until they say no
then whoever gives in
is the best
toys are all thiers
whether they are thiers or not
adults are ok
if they have candy
or gifts
or tell stories
big problems are met with laughs
yet the tinyest catch
can cause tears
naps are hated
but always seem to happen
peanut butter and jelly
is a gourmet meal
life is simple
thier life is simple through our eyes
but in thier eyes
it is not complicated
but full of wonder
close your eyes
adult
dulled
cynical to the world
search back
find your kid eyes
look through them again
eat some PB&J
collect your toys
and laugh at your problems
it'll all be ok.
