Nigredo

by Kitty Ness

Metal buckets overflow,
filled by a garden hose
forgotten in the shade.

The end of a roll of Scotch tape,
peeled off and ripped
over the serrated edge.

A warm tongue stuck to
a frozen ice cube, waits
for it to melt.

Some dogs, when they accidentally
bite, find in their mistaken action
only pleasure and purpose.

I'm fascinated by your choice of title given the poem. Is it from the Keifer painting or is it alchemical in origin?
