Afterthought

by Christel Crews

I wanted to be honest
you deserved nothing less
I needed to be up front with you
Your character I put to the test

I think I said too much
will you run from me
I think I said too much
And now, I am in misery

My life has changed since you came in
and swept me off my feet
You don't know how you've impacted me
I'm begging you, don't retreat

I think I said too much
will you run from me
I think I said too much
And now, I am in misery

My past is just that, its done
I just felt you needed to know
Did I make a mistake in speaking too soon
or did I just say too much

I think I said too much
will you run from me
I think I said too much
And now, I'm in misery

Nice poem, Christel, so full of feeling. I like the rhyme and flow. Beautiful work.
