Sisters

by Michele Schottelkorb

sisters
your link to your past
your gift to your future
knowing where you came from;
will be there when you get
where you are going
a blessing from the earth
they cry with you when you are sad
smile with you when you are happy

sisters
they squabble
they argue
they make you tear your hair out
they hug you
they protect you
they'd lay down their life to save yours

sisters
i have a few
each one special
each one different
each one mine
i wouldn't change,
not a one,
for anything in the world...

Author's Note: i have four younger sisters, two step sisters and several women whom i consider sisters... they are loved... (this can also go for brothers and all siblings... i have one of those too... i shall write of him later, my precious brother)
