what our children's names will be.
it isn't whether or not we'll tattoo
those rings on our bony fingers
or what we might pick as a color scheme.

it isn't whether or not we'll spend
the rest of our days together, or
if we'll have that wrap around porch.
it isn't whether or not i'm yours, or claimed,
it isn't whether i'm wrong or right.
it isn't whether i'm fake or real,
it isn't anything, for

i haven't asked you "that question"
and the time has not yet come.
