the day after

by Emily G Myers

half dyed hair
half down my back
mascara in flakes
under my eyes
what color?
sickness-cracked lips
& concealer-dotted skin
bruises on my arms
from the needles
dried blood on my legs
from soap & water shaving

the constant mystery
of the eyes of me
what color?
yesterday?
today?
red

don't think this isn't slowing killing me

& you don't have to worry

I didn't look pretty today anyway

Oh.... so may situations I can read into this poem... this is a fine piece that must have been difficult to write....
