The Silent Cry

by Christel Crews

There once was a girl who was set in her ways
She had nothing but a score for her age
Day in and day out, in silence she cried
Her heart had been stolen in a whirlwind of lies.

She filled her world with the busiest of things
She smiled and laughed but gone were her wings
In the midst of her prime, she'd silently boast
Alone she could stand, she was different than most.

Her cry was not heard, now relay it I must
Even now she sinks out of reach into dust
Her cry was so simple, it was easy to learn
Repetitive in nature I was quick to discern.

Need no one; accept no one
Deal with no one; love no one.
Silently she'd cry, but what's more to see
That this very girl, is the very same me

Author's Note: I know the last stanza is a bit awkward- any suggestions?

Hi Christel, Welcome to Pathetic. Just read your poem, it's good just like it is. I wouldn't change it, it's emotional too. Cheer up, you'll find your place, friends and love. Don't be so hard on yourself. Peace & Joy, Jean

I think I read this before and failed to comment... it is one of my favorite type of poems.. from the heart and with a lesson....
