Light My Fire

by Cole Miller

my heart and soul
are weak structures
of dead wood and
piles of kindling

your heart and soul
are strong structures
of gasoline and
pails of kerosene

love is a deadly match

Author's Note: come on baby... light my fire.

i love it. what an awesome metaphor and powerful closing statement (small frowny face for concept of girl as the weak/dead one, but that's just my feminism talkin)

who knew the doors could inspire such words;)

hey, just wanted to add something to that feminism bit above- of course we sometimes feel weak, as in 'weak with desire' or 'dead' from love jadedness. it's not like you're a guy putting women down as weak. i saw the beginning of the poem in an unnecessary angle, and coming back to it, i like it even more and understand it better. and I love that you're expanding on Jim Morrison's brainchild :)

for a poem with the key words being 'heart' and 'soul' you've gone and taken a cliche idea and transformed it into some quite unique poetry. congratulations!
