Our Big Mother

by Charlie Morgan

Our Big Mother

Standing alongside her and on her shoulders too,
I watch our big Mother liveĀ—and die.

Her cool oceanic spray blankets flora and fauna
as they express their full inner-being.

We drink her breath of life-giving bloodwater
as it courses over and through her.

Her boiling soul melts in her belly
by the furnace of chaotic entropy,

Forever cultivating and grooming herself
for the futures yet to come.

Mountains, valleys and cities are carried
in the red-hot magma of her DNA.

Winds, rain and snow orchestrate their magic
of erosion to even the Life-Death dance.

I love "Forever cultivating and grooming herself for the futures yet to come". We are so small in comparison.
