cowboys by Ulyss RubeyI was Gene Autry,
and Jerry was The Kid,
we chased the train robbers
cause we knew what they did.
They fell dead in their tracks,
though they gave a good fight,
for our aim was sure,
and our hats
and our horses
were white.
We never chewed the fat
'bout wrong or right,
'cause good was good
and evil was awful,
the baduns wore black
and the gooduns wore white
and that was that.
But on the ride from then to now-
along lifes trail
from the grace of conviction
to the hell of confusion,
we met and rode for a spell,
with some hombres in red hats
riding on green cows.
