Immature

by Christel Crews

Immature you say
The words cut sharp and bleak
How much longer will it last
the raging torment that I keep

I long for the extended hand
the arms opened wide,
yet when you're there
the sun is gone
I feel chilled deep inside

Why must we carry on this way
Like children everyday
I love you once
I love you twice
yet what you feel does not change

Younger, yes
in age, but no
your feelings you must hide.
Until the day
I hear you say
Age will not define
the love that I hide.
