ANYONE THERE?

by Charlie Morgan

ANYONE THERE?

AS THE END-TIMERS SQUARE DANCE

TO TUNES BY MOODY BLUES,

AND TURN OFF THEIR CALL-WAITING,
(THEY SAY)THERE ARE NO PHONES

IN PURGATORY OR HEAVEN;

WE, WHO SIMPLY BELIEVE,

STAND IN LINE AT THE ONE
PAY PHONE AND LISTEN INTENTLY

FOR A DIAL TONE, HOPING

NOT TO GET A BUSY SIGNAL.
