80's Music #1

by Beth K Hannah

Yes, Eileen you do mean everything
If only what he means
Is for you take off that pretty red dress...
But come on Eileen,
Did you really expect more?

When you dance
I know what I like about you
I like you when you hold me tight
And you never seem done telling me
About the night you worked for the weekend
And how this fantasy life is all we get.

I went into an old bathroom
And found a number on the wall
It could have been another Jenny
But was probably just a remnant
From a a decade and a half ago.

So, in a few years I will be
Having my own white wedding
Minus the heavy black satin
And I will be dancing
And wondering if you can take on me
Or if this will end quicker than
A freeze frame.

So, boys grab your girls
Make it wild like when you flash
Your fragile smile
Because I never understood how
This music stopped

You are truly god now. I love the 'having my own white wedding, minus the heavy black satin'. So happy that you worked a classic Billy Idol song into this. Lovely, perfectly lovely.

Everybody knows early 90s music was the best. ;) This is a great arrangement, sparks some memories. Good work!

Great work. The way you incorporate the lyrics into your poem is very creative, very original. You made me smile. Thanks.
