Sonnetina # 1

by Leonard M Hawkes

I know ye, fair ones,
Straight unbent willows,
Rooting yourselves newly
In noble manhood.

I know ye, fair ones,
Fresh-faced, muscular,
Eager, impatient--
Passion impetuous.

I know ye, fair ones,
Graying, leather-faced,
Ear and Eye now carved
By father time, Yet

Ye fair, I know ye;
Ageless, I know ye.
