My Machine

by Charles J Hannan

It stays together for a while
With a little luck anyway
How often it needs care
A tender touch
Gently patching the structure
God only knows how it works
And it's fluid motion is unique
No gears or grease
Petrol doesn't flow
Keeping better time than the Swiss
An intricate part indeed
Speeding up with every touch of your hand
Seemingly working overtime
All the time
By powers of your love
The perfect fuel
For my machine
