Fade Away

by Jersey D Gibson

The day's getting long,
there's no time to lose.
The golden hour is passing,
this path I have to choose.

Standing up on tall,
on top of the dining chair.
With the perfect knot in my hands,
slipping over my hair.

The world has gone dim for me,
there's not much more for me to see.
Planned for this moment to be alone,
show's over, folks, go on home.

Standing with my last necktie,
the letter written on my bed.
With the attic 2x4 above,
memories flashing in my head.

The moment is here, I drop down,
pain keeping the memories at bay.
No! I want to turn back and live,
too late, the world is fading away.

My life has lost it's meaning to continue,
it is over, I'm done, I am finally through.
Short-lived years that I've described as hell,
surely didn't think the rest could go well.

This reads like a song which cuts deep. Greatly expressed.

A very moving piece ... sad and deep. Nice work!
