New Found Daughter

by Thomas K. Hunt

Restless years
Now say goodbye
I look at you
I see my eyes
It's all so real
I realize
Within my life
You are what lives
Within my blood
To you I give
You are my seed
You're what I've sowed
We never knew
Now we know
My life goes on
Beyond my days
Through you I live
Through you I'm saved
I look at you
I see my face
Through time alone
We've found our place
We are complete
We are blessed
We now can live
We now can rest

Author's Note: I recently found out that I have a 23-year-old daughter. I never thought I had any children of my own and always wanted them; I feel she is heaven-sent. We both have a newfound lease on life and have accepted each other with open and loving arms.
