Eternal Flame by Michelle CalhounLady Liberty stands proud and tall
with her torch held high,
always pointed towards the heavens.
For she knows, God is nigh.
He was there on 9-11, that mid-September day.
When they paralyzed our country,
and took American lives away.
For God put her in that harbor
and she proudly stands so tall,
to watch over and remind us
of Freedom, Liberty, and Justice for all. 03/11/2003 Posted on 04/01/2003 Copyright © 2025 Michelle Calhoun

Posted by Cathlyn Cartier on 04/02/03 at 02:18 AM Wonderful poem... and maybe the French did create her and gift her to this country, but God allowed them the ability to do so and made us the recipient of that gift. |
Posted by Adrian Calhoun on 04/02/03 at 04:07 AM Excellent poem you have written here. Very true God was there, and he did put that statue in the harbor. The french may of made it and given it to the U.S. but the U.S. had to erect it. They had many choices where to put it, and that harbor was finally picked. Nice writing sweetheart. |
