Sacrifice

by Christopher Shin

I thought if I tried to
find you in this mixed up
chaotic world you would
draw me out of my own darkness.

Don't you understand
the darkness in my heart
is all that I am?
To take away this part
would only make me
an empty shell.

So you ask me which would
I sacrifice for happiness,
and I sadly point out
that even though your eyes
fill my body with warmth
and your touch causes
my heart to swore in the clouds.

I must say that I can not give
up the misery in my heart.
So your goodbyes and the misery of
missing you adds to the shadows
around me.

As I talk into the mirror
and you question me about
why I do not have the love
of my life. I can simply say
that misery does not love
your company.

we all make choices, sacrifices. but is it always for the best?

Sacrifice for the sake of sacrifice or is it for a cause which comensates in the form of some kind of recompense? In the absence of any purpose the sacrifice sounds meaningless. The approach a bit negative.
