The Queen of Smiles

by Thomas K. Hunt

The queen of smiles took a bow
She smiled then turned to go
She won't be back this way again
She was such a pleasure to know

When she left with her crown
The tears fell like rain
All the smiles turned upside down
Everyone shared the pain

Yes, the queen has vanished into thin air
Her subjects are still grounded
With every thought of her they bear
Their smiles are well rounded

Her kingdom was short as kingdoms go
Unlike the thrones of yesteryear
But the legacy of her smile is so
We will always keep her near

The queen of smiles smiled on us all
If only for a short while
We can be proud and all stand tall
Knowing she graced us with her smile
