X by Bet YeldemI am Generation X,
a part of the mystery
that leaves the elders
wondering
what happened to our ideal world
where children were innocent
teens respectful
adults understood their place?
GenX
the slovenly, weak-minded, narcissistic
good-for-nothing-slackers
who live on the whims of chance
and change ideas as quickly as moods,
the hysterical uninformed
the passionate misguided misfits
who desire nothing
more
than the thrill of the day
or better yet
a day of carelessly wasted precious time.
X
that letter that stands alone
as the infinite variable
that thing
that unknown
in the equations
that none of this generation can figure
the missing piece
of the puzzle
We are Generation X
the imaginative
the scoffers
the dreamers
the seekers
the Truth you fail to recognize
the Self you've managed to forget
the product of your generation,
and therein lies the rub you loathe.
It's you who are ignorant
of the way of the world.
Change is inevitable, didn't you know?
We won't settle,
We won't follow the path,
We won't go quietly, leaving no mark
upon the world that you've left in shambles.
It's not that we want nothing
rather, we want it all
every possibility
infinity
X

just my cynical response to one person's rush to judgment*

Posted by Carl Walker on 03/29/03 at 11:47 PM gen x, where do people get off judging a whole generation. if there are slackers, are there not slackers in every generation. and I note, gen xers are more or less running things as well as in past generations too,
aren't there |
