If Suicide Weren't A Sin...

by Jersey D Gibson

If suicide weren't a sin,
how many people would be dead?
How many wrists open,
how many brains splattered?

If suicide were seen as a blessing,
how many people would be left?
How few survive,
how few strive?

If suicide weren't a sin,
so many problems would be gone.
No overpopulation,
no old people overcrowding.

I'm glad that suicide is a sin,
though I'm not a God-fearing type.
So many souls will now go to heaven,
because they were too afraid to try.

Interesting read.... I wrote one on this same subject myself once for a poetry challenge... (called "Reason to Live")... anyway, great read and you're right.... a lot more people would "cop out early" if they thought it'd get them to Heaven sooner!

Hi Jersey, Just read your poem, If Suicide Weren't A Sin... Good except for the B word. Old people gettong oercrowded. Don't worry the population will be stopped alot, of the Politians have their way. Making wars, after wars. If they had to battle them ,there wouldn't be any. No, they have to send our troops to do it. they have no choice, but to go. Hope how soon their home. Nothing is worth ending your life over. Life is too short as it is sometimes. Instead reach out to the Lord. You guy, calling yourself that. A Christian, is a big no no. I hope Anna does some soul searching, and reaches out more to the Lord. Prays & goes to church. Peace & Joy, Jean
