gone in a day

in the memory of yesterday.
Go on moving in people's minds,
from yesterday.
And yesterdays to come,
I will fade, I will become,
just another screwed up girl,
with another screwed up life.
I'll be simply,
a statistic to America.
If tomorrow comes,
let it come with disappointment.
Another goal unmet,
another problem unsolved.
And it won't matter in the end,
because after the initial shock,
people go on living and moving,
and not really ever thinking about,
yesterday.
