memory

by Bet Yeldem

I wander
Through our train wreck
Nothing left
Save scrap metal shards
And a hole in my stomach –

Did you think about
The things you’d say
In that moment
Or the price we’d pay
In the end?

Did you mean
To tear down the walls of my heart
And walk away
From the rubble
All along?

I burned the evidence
Every tangible memory
But the smoke
Lingers in my lungs
Finds its way
Through my throat
And you
Spill out of my mouth
Far too often
No cure
Yet

What’s killing me
What I hate the most
Is that after
All the time and tears thrown away
I have
Just spent two minutes
Wasting my ink
On you

Despiote the burnt evidences, the association seems quite alive. As such associations never die. The only way out is to win the associations. The poem is the outcome of the associations, intense but with a negative flow of energies. And I believe the creative process of this poem it self miust have helped you transform this negative charge.
