Voice of the Wind

by Adrian Calhoun

Mark not the words of man,
mark not thy futile glories,
for time shall vanish them all to mediocrity.

Leaving nothing on earth untouched it passes,
the wind doth not blow in vain.

All people should be as the wind.
Bearing witness to events of our time,
marking the days and the years,
leaving record for those yet to come.

The wind shall blow henceforth,
carrying in its bow,
both retribution and hope,
until the end of all time.

Let us not pass quietly
but our voices be forever,
echoed upon the breeze.

Philosophical and timely! Effective use of wind as a symbol of the movement of history and our place in it.
