Her Smiling Face

by Thomas K. Hunt

Her smiling face appears to me in the slumber of my night
It warms me just to see her dancing in the soft white light
I'm overwhelmed by her presence
It brings me such joy
She's been a part of me since I was just a boy
When morning brings a new sun I'll wake to face the day
A piece of my heart is missing since the day she passed away
My grief is in my living
It's my dreams that I embrace
Please blanket me in peace tonight
I need to see her smiling face
She was always just across the street
A call away with just my voice
At times the reason my heart beat
Those times were all by choice
Although she may be out of sight
She's gone but with a trace
I need to dream of her tonight
I need to see her smiling face

Had to click on your name...my dad's name is Thomas Hunt. I enjoyed this poem...it was sadly sweet.
