Gasp by Jared WinklerOne Drag
The last
breath
smothered
Refilling sustenance
feeding addiction
Enveloping my chest
my soul
I cover the bitterness: three times
Eyes widen in desperation
I almost fade
as I stir.
I release the smoke
and breath again.
I sip and speak.
And it was a damn good cup
of bad coffee,
With a little cream
and a lot of life.
