death to you

by Olivia Weinkein

to think suffocation can be romantic
i needed to keep you around so
i left you on my pillow
oh the silence of everything

but the rotting eventually becomes
too much

when i begin to smell you in the
air around me
then i will know
it is time to finally let you go.

Nice poem with a lovely morbid theme. Reminds me of Anne Rice's 'The Violin' or at least, the first few chapters. Blessings-Mina

Its always good to let go the past which starts infecting the moments alive and present. You have said this so beautifully.

it's that rotten smell and infection that i have so much trouble scrubbing away. it stays and stays.
