Catch Me by Beth K HannahI'm falling
Down
Falling to you
Upholding my stance
Slipping again
I play the guitar
Take some Maria
Dance with some stranger
Still I fall down
And you are why
So I paint myself
Grey
Stop acting adult
Sing like a crow is
Chasing me
Fill my fingertips with gold
And after the daisies quit growing
And the snow captures me
I am still falling
Down around me
Love me please
All I need is for some one
To love
Walking on water
I still trip
catch. 03/11/2003 Author's Note: I wrote this while studying physiology. I could not concentrate and the Counting Crows were twisting my thoughts. A lot of their music is in this poem.

Posted by Max Bouillet on 07/18/03 at 10:50 PM A lot of motion and emotion in this one. Well crafted. |
Posted by Don Coffman on 08/24/03 at 08:41 AM I had some of their things for a while, but can't really place the references. Not important, though; it's a really enjoyable bit of writing. I like the section in the middle about painting grey and not acting adult, gives a sense of giving up on being a better, vibrant person to hunt acceptance. A ponderous image. |
