Submission by Kitty Ness
My life spends its wonder years
with its eyes shut,
recklessly impairing my health
and social advance.
It raises the downtrodden,
ignores the worshiped, pays full
price and cheats heresy.
It turns its back on itself and
embraces death.
To survive it must achieve
invisibility, incarnation,
dodge the safe and collide with
the furious, triumphant.
My life pays no attention to me
behind it, silent and without presence.
It is the vehicle for all
expression, truth, justice, compassion,
and it is wasted by my interference.
