what do you do when do I hate

by Gabrielle L Gervais

What do you do
When I hate what you do
And love what you are.
Who do I condemn
When I love your soul
And hate your desires
I cut you off,
Like an arm.
Stab you out,
Like an Oedipal sin.

What do I do
When I love you
But hate something
about your smile
Something about the way you taste
makes my stomach retch throat repulse.
I detach myself from your blinded claws and
float you out to sea
On a deflating raft.

You have the hope of floating
I’m losing my energy to swim.

Growing is just an illusion
