Heart of Pine

by Michael Hamlin

Whispers from the back of night
Wondering, drifting thoughts
From nowhere and everywhere
All speak the name of the one
A golden perfect knight
Slaying the emptiness of my heart
And filling it with love for him

Amadeus’s Dark fiery claws
Chaos, confusion, and death
All melt away in his light
Bright and radiant
Innocent and kind
A lighthouse in the fog
Tearing down all impenetrable walls
And piercing the depths of my soul

Old mother fate, caring and kind
Burdened with the hopes and dreams of your children
Will you allow my dream?
Or will my tortured soul forever thirst?
I thirst for his kindness
I thirst for his affection
I pray and hope for his love
Will it ever find me?

Sadness overwhelms me
Nothing matters
Life or death
Past or future
If the dragon remains un-slain
I will forever remain imprisoned?

Whether the thirst is quenched
Or whether the thirst remains
Whether the dragon is destroyed
Or Whether the dragon lives
All things can change
Or all things can remain the same
But my heart will always love the knight
Bright and radiant
Innocent and kind
A lighthouse in the fog
Leading my soul to freedom
