I Know These Days

by Amanda Conlogue

The sun is an all-seeing
Eye, veiled by the hazy
Clouded sky, mild, the breeze
Sifts through my hair
I’m content to sit here
And while away the minutes
Watching seagulls
Scavenge the sky, seeing
For miles, people stride by
Wrapped up in their
Cell phones and cigarettes
Do they notice the day,
The kiss the breeze bestows?
I’m never sure of anything
But I know that days
Like these are to be savored.
