weeding out by Brynn Dizackplanting seeds and
placing kisses in your palms
like pennies
shiny but
not worth anything unless
added together
we were
both planted flatfoot in a garden
you were not a rosebush and
you did not have thorns i was
wheat grass dancing blissfully in sunshine
next to dandelion with
spiky top and
they can tell me
there are differences
between flowers and weeds
they can tell me i've got to
clear out the grass to make space for the blooms but
i still remember when
dandelions counted and
dandelions were warm in my hands like sunshine and
left my fingers sticky and sweet-smelling with their insides and
grew grey and soft and comfortable in their old age, and
that is not why i love you, but
it helps. 01/29/2003 Posted on 01/29/2003 Copyright © 2024 Brynn Dizack

Posted by Olivia Weinkein on 01/29/03 at 07:22 AM I really love this..."they can tell me
there are differences
between flowers and weeds" stands out to me though the entire poem grabs at me. And the ending is just perfect. Beautiful.
