At 65 mph, It's Futile

by Amanda Conlogue

I’ve been trying to push the hair
Back behind my ears, but driving
Along the highway with the windows
Down, blows it back into my eyes
And my thoughts are futile
I keep pushing you out
But you keep blowing back
Like the wind rushing through
The car window at 65 mph
And when it begins to rain
It stings my open skin
