Tiny Rainbows by Amanda ConlogueI hear the road
Hiss, alive
An obsidian snake
In rain and passing cars,
Spinning tires
Spit up shallow pools
Spraying unsuspecting lawns,
The humidity is still here
Oppressive, unchanging
And tomorrow
The neighbors will be out,
Unaware
Of danger and midnight serpents,
Grooming their ultra-green lawns
Watching tiny rainbows
Appear in the sprinklersÂ’ mists.
