heat follows drink

by Brynn Dizack

chest expands and
place head between knees to
catch breath.

i want to make a pillow for my empty head
out of the way you smell
and the things you say

my lips
on your skin
my breathing apparatus
proesthetic lung

match our
kissing stomachs
like suction cups
ankles as fish-hooks

i want to sew your chest to my ear
so i can always hear your heat beating

i dipped the day into
tray after tray of developer
freeze frame, the
stitching of you-to-me you-to-me you-

kodak moment what i
build you up to be on the insides of my eyelids is
what i see when i open my eyes and
in plain english i suppose that means that
i don't know how i ever got along without you

this one's for the scrapbook or
scrapyard as we descend
disguised as seam-rippers
unzipping and unbinding the
thousands of tiny books we've written
&i am hanging our
prints up to dry, they are
still dripping and
still blank

our cameras conventional
capturing nothing about the night but
the d a r k n e s s

morning finally came like a slow polaroid.

Some brilliant imagery and overall wonderfully written.
