you've become just another minuteman

by Olivia Weinkein

although i will not be sending any
more words your way in letter form
or otherwise: if i were to, perhaps i
would say that you almost had me
there. for a minute. but everyone
knows that a minute isn't nearly long
enough.
and that you may have rocked my
winter world unsteady, pouring unexpected
crazed blizzard onto my landscape but
darling,
i have never been afraid of the taste of
snow. nor the feel of the icy chill that
accompanies it. and i have never,
never been
afraid of you. so while you may have
disrupted things for a minute life does
go on as do i with or without your hands
to warm me. But you almost had me
there. for a minute. but even you should
know by now that a minute isn't nearly
long enough.
